"Spacious, well equipped and comfortable"

Possibly the best self catering accommodation we've ever had. Welcomed by a lovely fire and a basket full of goodies. A great location for exploring the northern side of Dartmoor and within a drive of Exmoor. Everything was what we wanted; spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Perfect!

"We would give Culverhayes 6 stars if we could"

We have just returned from four lovely days staying at Hopetown Cottage. We loved Eleanor's warm and generous hospitality. The cottage is exceptionally comfortable, spacious and well-appointed, a real home away from home. The gardens are exquisite and our two dogs had a wonderful time playing in the paddock. We would give Culverhayes six stars if we could.

"A beautiful. idyllic cottage for our family holiday."

An imposing, beautiful old rectory in the heart of the Devon countryside, Culverhayes was our base for a week in August. Hopetown cottage is situated at the end of a sweeping driveway past immaculate lawns that open out to the most amazing gardens. The cottages are very well presented and in perfect order throughout. A well stocked welcome hamper (inc. wine) was just what we needed after our journey. The rooms are spacious and and are very much 'the next level' to the accepted luxury you expect to find in a holiday cottage. The kitchen was fitted with high end appliances together with all you would need to self cater for a large family or friends for the week (although there is an excellent pub that does really nice food just a few mins walk away). Our son had a tremendous time exploring the 10 acre gardens.
Eleanor and Marlyn were on hand and would go that extra bit to ensure we had everything we needed. They were excellent hosts and a mine of local information.
In all a perfect stay in an idyllic location. Thoroughly recommended!

"Our very special trip to England"

On our way into our holiday we have had a bad, severe accident. Our car was so much
destroyed, it could only be scrabbed afterwards. We called the two lovely landladies, Eleanor and Marylin actually just to let them know, that we do not have a car anymore and that we could not come. There was no hesitance at all, they came and picked us up from where we were and brought us to our cottage! Coming there was like coming home! Our Cottage Hopetown was spacious and comfortable and beautifully decorated, so that one could just sit back and relax!
The informal athmosphere and of course the wonderful gardens of Culverhayes Cottages also helped us to forget our unfortunate start of our trip!

"The Perfect Country Getaway"

We enjoyed a relaxing break at Culverhayes, whilst on a trip to attend our daughter’s graduation ceremony from Exeter University. Our accommodation, Hopetown cottage, was charming, comfortable and spacious. The property is surrounded by beautiful gardens offering picturesque views from every window. The location is quiet and peaceful. We relaxed in the private patio area after spending the day out and about. Eleanor provided a warm welcome and was a kind and helpful host.

"Beautiful cottage and wonderful location"

We have just returned from a family holiday to Spice Cottage and I wanted to say that this was a fabulous place set in the most beautiful gardens you could imagine. The owners, Eleanor and Marlyn, are both very charming ladies and have worked extremely hard to create an idyllic venue for their two holiday cottages and their own magnificent home. We all enjoyed our week in this special place and our small dog loved the 10 acre gardens to explore. We would all highly recommend this holiday venue.

"Fantastic cottage in beautiful surroundings"

We have just returned from a truly lovely stay in Spice Cottage at Culverhayes. The cottage was spotless, fixtures and fittings were of a very high quality, and the mini hamper filled with quality produce, was an extra bonus. The owners, Eleanor and Marilyn, made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Our two dogs made the most of the beautifully manicured gardens, and we had some lovely chats with the gardeners. Recommend to eat at the New Inn just 200 yards away - superb food. Special place to stay in a lovely part of the country.
